3 Real Estate Mistakes You Should Never Make
It is very easy to fail in real estate and many agents don’t make it. Unless you are planning to join them, read below the 3 three real estate mistakes you should avoid at all costs.
Not staying in touch with clients
The biggest mistake you can make as a realtor is not communicating enough with your clients. The biggest complaints from clients come when an agent is out of reach. They should be able to reach you during business hours and you should make an effort to return all their calls. If you have many clients phone calls might not be as time effective, but you always have other options. The quickest way to reach out is by text or email. You can even decide on a day of the week when you will be sending out updates to all your clients.
Never saying “no”
Not being able to say “no” is one of the biggest real estate mistakes. The ability to say “no” is an essential skill in any business and real estate is no different. Never make promises that you cannot keep, as this will disappoint your clients and hurt your reputation. Evaluate every situation carefully. Most sellers contact several agents in the hope they will give them a higher selling price. Don’t be tempted to offer them unreasonably high price for the market, because you are not likely to sell their house at that price. Also if you feel like a client is too much for you to handle simply say no in the beginning.
Often agents forget how important marketing is in real estate. It is true that most agents are not marketers, but it does not mean that if you are not good at it you should ignore it altogether. You have options – hire an assistant or a social media management company to do your marketing for you while you focus on making more sales and paying attention to your clients. If you decide to do it yourself make sure you have a focus. You need to find your desired niche and target your marketing toward these people. When you are focused on a target market it is much easier to come up with content.
