It is Time to Give Your House a Fall Cleanup
Everybody knows about spring cleaning but no one has ever heard of fall cleanup and they should. Fall is your window of opportunity to get rid of anything you no longer need in your house.
Start your fall cleanup from the kitchen. First check your spices cabinets. We know that there are jars that have been sitting there for years! Take out all spices and clean the cabinet. Then go through all of them and throw out the ones that are expired. Now you are ready for your holiday cooking. The freezer is another place where things go in only to come out a couple years later. Make sure to check all the food that you have in there and throw out anything that has been there too long. After all freezing things does not magically keep them good forever.
Autumn is a great time for purging clothes. Shoes take up a lot of space and you should donate or sell the ones that you no longer use. Start with separating all the shoes that you currently wear and get rid of the ones that are left. While doing that, also clean your shoe racks. Next go through all your summer clothes and cleanup anything that you no longer wear. This will free some space for your autumn and winter clothes. Lastly, in preparation for winter, go through all winter jackets and coats and donate any of them that you no longer need.
Take a good look around your living room and see if there is excessive clutter. Small items tend to accumulate over time and we just stop noticing them. The same goes with old books and magazines that just take up space on the shelves. Make sure to clear up some space for new books and new decor. While you are at, clean the shelves.
How long ago did you check your night stands for stuff you don’t need? Give these night stand drawers a good fall cleanup, because chances are they are full of all kinds of junk.
How many half empty bottles do you have in the bathroom that you never use? If you don’t use them, throw them away, even though it might be tempting to keep them just because they are not empty.
