What to do this Thanksgiving Weekend in California?
Thanksgiving weekend is a great time to spend some quality time with family and friends. Why not attend some of the California Thanksgiving weekend events?
If you like exercising, take part in the Turkey Trot, which is a morning run in Long beach. If you happen to be a vegetarian, you can join the Tofurkey Trot in Pasadena. Thanksgiving weekend kicks off a lot of Christmas season activities. For example, on Friday after Thanksgiving the LA Zoo Lights starts. The 85th Christmas parade on Sunday after Thanksgiving will have floats, balloons, bands, equestrians and celebrities. They will ride in a U-shaped route that begins at Hollywood and Orange and ends up at Sunset and Orange.
Don’t miss Mother Goose Parade.The town of El Cajon has been celebrating at Thanksgiving for more than 60 years. It is the largest Parade in San Diego County and every year it attracts thousands of people to El Cajon. The Parade takes place on the Sunday before Thanksgiving and it will feature colorful floats, bands, performing artists and many more. Another event you should check out, if you are in San Diego is San Diego Jazz Festival. It takes place during the Thanksgiving weekend at the Town & Country Resort and Convention Center. There are performances in a variety of jazz styles.
If you are a fan of Victorian England, you can enjoy a performance with a lot of famous characters from that age at the Dickens fair. The Dickens Fair starts on November 18th at Cow Palace Exhibition Halls and runs every weekend through December. Admission is charged and you can buy your tickets online to save money. The San Francisco Turkey Trail Trot is a fun way to burn off some calories. Registration is now closed, but you can register for some of the other Thanksgiving day races listed on their website.
