Get Your Kids Ready for School with This Simple Checklist
Kids are soon to be back in school and this gives you a million things to do, but don’t get overwhelmed. A good back to school list can make your job easier and save you a lot of last minute stress.
Get School Info
Start with gathering all the information you can from the school. Many teachers post on the school website, so make a note of all their recommendation. You should be able to find a school-supply list and any required forms. If medical forms need to get signed or a physical exam is needed, make sure to contact your kid’s pediatrician early enough.
Make a School-Supply List
Make a list of all school supplies and clothes you need to buy before the first day of school. This is also a good time to go through the closet and organize them. It will also help you decide what you need to buy.
Adjust bed times
As the first day of school approaches, make your kids go to bed a few minutes earlier every night until you get to school bedtime. This will make it easier to adjust to their new schedule and prevent morning tantrums.
Babysitter and Emergency Contacts
Make sure to make arrangements with your babysitter and emergency contacts who can take care of your kids after school when you can’t. Get in touch with everyone on your list and make sure they are still willing to help out.
Begin to plan what to include in your kids’ lunch boxes and set time aside to stock up on the groceries you need. Try to think of healthy options and don’t leave this to the last minute. You can make a list of meal options for the times when you are out of ideas.
Talk to Your Child
It is very important to be there for your child if they have questions or concerns about school. Talk through all the steps in their routine. Walk together to the bus stop. If they walk to school make sure to show them the safest route. Print their school schedule where it can be seen. Read together the school handbook and make sure your child understands the rules at school.
